Treating fibroids that cause symptoms or affect fertility

Fibroids are growths of muscle in or around the womb. They are very common and usually noncancerous. Depending on their size and position, they can cause heavy periods, pressure, pain or frequent urination, and some can affect fertility.

Finding out you have fibroids can be worrying. Many women have them without any problems.

Dr Jasdev explains whether your fibroids need treatment, and which options protect your future fertility.

01

Your symptoms taken seriously

Your history, symptoms and any past results are reviewed before a plan is suggested.

02

Options explained clearly

You will hear the benefits, limits and risks of each option, including simply monitoring.

03

Care that stays connected

Reviews are planned around your diagnosis, how treatment is working and any plans for pregnancy.

What fibroid care gives you

  • A clear map of fibroid size and position
  • Advice on whether treatment is needed at all
  • Options that keep the womb when you want a pregnancy

How your care is planned

Each step is designed to answer what is causing your symptoms, what matters most to you, and what to do next. The plan is reviewed as results come in.

01

Review your symptoms and pregnancy plans

02

Map the fibroids with ultrasound or MRI

03

Agree monitoring, medicine or surgery

Treatment options

Small fibroids without symptoms may simply be monitored. Tablets and hormonal treatments can reduce bleeding. Fibroids inside the womb cavity can be removed by hysteroscopy. Larger fibroids may be removed by laparoscopic or open myomectomy, which keeps the womb.

Who may benefit

Women with heavy periods, pelvic pressure, pain or bladder symptoms, and women with fibroids who are trying to conceive or have had miscarriages.

What to expect

Your first visit reviews your symptoms and any scans. A detailed ultrasound maps the fibroids. You will discuss the options, from monitoring to surgery, including recovery and any effect on future pregnancy.

How Dr Jasdev works with you

He combines gynaecology and fertility experience with clear, unhurried explanations. Treatment choices follow current evidence and take your future pregnancy plans into account. You will always know why a test or treatment is being suggested. Women see him from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, and some travel from neighbouring countries.

What to bring to your appointment

Bringing these helps Dr Jasdev see the full picture and make the most of your visit. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.

  • Previous scan or MRI reports
  • A diary of bleeding and symptoms
  • Details of your pregnancy plans

Your questions about fibroids

What are uterine fibroids?

They are noncancerous growths of muscle in or around the womb. They are very common and vary in size and position.

Who should seek advice?

Women with heavy periods, pressure or pain, and those with fibroids who are planning a pregnancy or having fertility problems.

What tests are needed?

A pelvic ultrasound, and sometimes an MRI, to map the fibroids. A blood count checks for anaemia.

Is treatment painful or risky?

Medicine has side effects that are explained first. Surgery carries risks such as bleeding and infection, and recovery depends on the type of operation.

Why see Dr Jasdev for fibroids?

He weighs the size and position of each fibroid against your symptoms and plans, and explains when treatment is and is not needed.

How do I book?
