Finding the cause of your pain and ways to ease it

Pelvic pain is pain below the belly button and between the hips. It may come with periods, during or after sex, or at other times. Causes include endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids and infection, and sometimes bowel or bladder problems.

Living with pain can wear you down, and many women are told it is normal. Pain that affects your life is worth investigating.

Dr Jasdev listens carefully to your story, as the pattern of pain often gives important clues.

01

Your symptoms taken seriously

Your history, symptoms and any past results are reviewed before a plan is suggested.

02

Options explained clearly

You will hear the benefits, limits and risks of each option, including simply monitoring.

03

Care that stays connected

Reviews are planned around your diagnosis, how treatment is working and any plans for pregnancy.

What a proper assessment gives you

  • A careful search for the cause of your pain
  • Treatment options that suit your symptoms and plans
  • Referral to other specialists when needed

How your care is planned

Each step is designed to answer what is causing your symptoms, what matters most to you, and what to do next. The plan is reviewed as results come in.

01

Talk through when and where the pain occurs

02

Arrange an examination, ultrasound and swabs if needed

03

Agree treatment, which may include medicine or surgery

Common causes

Endometriosis and adenomyosis often cause painful periods and pain during sex. Ovarian cysts can cause sudden or one sided pain. Pelvic infection may cause pain with discharge or fever. When no cause is found on scan, a laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) may sometimes be advised.

Who may benefit

Women with painful periods that affect daily life, pain during or after sex, or pelvic pain lasting more than a few months. Sudden severe pain needs urgent care.

What to expect

Your first visit includes a detailed conversation and, with your consent, an examination. An ultrasound is usually arranged. You will discuss the likely cause and treatment, which may start with medicine and move to surgery only if needed.

How Dr Jasdev works with you

He combines gynaecology and fertility experience with clear, unhurried explanations. Treatment choices follow current evidence and take your future pregnancy plans into account. You will always know why a test or treatment is being suggested. Women see him from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, and some travel from neighbouring countries.

What to bring to your appointment

Bringing these helps Dr Jasdev see the full picture and make the most of your visit. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.

  • A pain diary noting timing, severity and triggers
  • Previous scan or surgery reports
  • A list of painkillers and treatments you have tried
