Unexplained Infertility

When tests look normal but pregnancy has not happened, there are still clear steps to take, from well timed attempts and IUI to IVF.

Complex & Advanced Fertility Care

Fertility care

Moving forward when no clear cause is found

Unexplained infertility means the standard tests for both partners are normal, yet pregnancy has not happened after a year or more. It is common, and it can be frustrating because there is no single problem to fix.

Normal results are good news in one way. They can also leave couples unsure what to do next.

Dr Jasdev helps you weigh your options with your age and time trying in mind, so decisions feel clear rather than rushed.

01

A plan that starts with your results

Your age, history, test results and goals are reviewed before any treatment is suggested.

02

Clear reasons for each step

You will know why a test or medicine is recommended, what it can do and where its limits are.

03

Care that stays connected

Reviews are planned around how you respond, your cycle timing and your next decision.

What a clear plan gives you

  • A check that nothing important has been missed
  • Options set out from simple to more involved
  • Honest guidance on when to move on to IVF

How your care is planned

Every stage answers three questions: what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next. The plan is reviewed at each stage and adjusted when needed.

01

Review all tests for both partners

02

Discuss continued trying, IUI or IVF

03

Set a timeline for reviewing progress

What unexplained infertility means

Standard tests check ovulation, the tubes, the womb and sperm. When all are normal, subtle factors may still play a part, such as egg quality, how sperm and egg interact, or small patches of endometriosis. Treatment aims to raise the monthly chance of pregnancy rather than fix one cause.

Who may benefit

Couples with normal results who have been trying for a year or longer, or six months if the woman is over 35. It also helps couples who are unsure whether to keep trying naturally or start treatment.

What to expect

Your first visit reviews every result so far and checks whether anything needs repeating. You will then discuss options such as continuing to try with good timing, IUI with mild stimulation, or IVF. Each option is explained with its likely time frame and cost.

How Dr Jasdev works with you

He brings together experience in fertility and gynaecology, and he explains things in plain language. Advice is based on current evidence and on what matters to you. You will always know what the next step is and why it has been suggested. He sees couples from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, as well as some who travel from neighbouring countries.

What to bring to your appointment

Your records help Dr Jasdev understand your history quickly, so more of the visit can go to your questions. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.

  • All previous test results for both partners
  • Records of any treatment tried so far
  • A note of how long you have been trying
Patient questions

What couples often ask

Most couples arrive with several questions. These common ones can help you plan what to ask.

01

If our tests are normal, why are we not pregnant?

02

Should we try IUI before IVF?

03

How long should we keep trying naturally?

04

Are there extra tests worth doing?

Your questions about unexplained infertility

What is unexplained infertility?

It means both partners have normal standard fertility tests, but pregnancy has not happened after a year of trying, or six months if the woman is over 35.

Who should seek advice?

Couples in this situation, especially if the woman is over 35 or you have been trying for more than two years. Age strongly shapes the right approach.

Are more tests needed?

Sometimes. A review may show that a test should be repeated, or that a tubal or womb check was never done. Extra tests are suggested only if they could change the plan.

Is treatment painful or risky?

IUI is quick and usually only mildly uncomfortable. IVF involves injections and egg collection under sedation. The risks of each, such as twins or overstimulation, are explained first.

Why see Dr Jasdev for unexplained infertility?

He reviews your full history with fresh eyes and offers a clear, stepwise plan based on evidence and your priorities.

How do I book?

Call or WhatsApp the clinic, and bring all previous results for both partners to the first visit.

This page is general information and does not replace a consultation. Whether a treatment suits you, and its risks and timing, should be discussed with Dr Jasdev based on your own history.
