Dr Jasdev Singh
Testicular PRP
Platelet rich plasma from your own blood is injected into the testes to try to support sperm production. It is experimental, and evidence is very limited.
Regenerative Fertility Procedures
An experimental option for men with very low sperm production
PRP is made by concentrating the platelets from a small blood sample. In testicular PRP, it is injected into the testes under local anaesthetic, in the hope of supporting the cells that make sperm.
Men with azoospermia (no sperm in the semen) or very low counts often look for any possible help. Research on testicular PRP is at an early stage.
Dr Jasdev discusses established treatments first and explains honestly how little is known about this option.
Both partners are assessed
Male factors play a part in many couples’ fertility problems, so sperm health is checked early.
Results explained clearly
You will understand what each result means and which options follow from it.
A plan for you as a couple
Male and female findings are considered together, so decisions make sense for both of you.
What this discussion gives you
- A clear picture of the evidence so far
- A comparison with proven options such as sperm retrieval
- Time to decide without pressure
How your care is planned
Each stage answers what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next for you as a couple. The plan is reviewed as results come in.
Review semen analyses, hormones and scans
Discuss proven and experimental options
If you choose to go ahead, prepare and inject the PRP
How it works
Blood is taken from your arm and processed to concentrate the platelets. After a local anaesthetic, the PRP is injected into each testis with a fine needle. The procedure takes around twenty minutes. Semen tests are repeated over the following months to look for any change.
Who may consider it
Men with very low sperm counts, or azoospermia caused by low production, who have been fully assessed and understand the treatment is experimental. It does not replace surgical sperm retrieval or ICSI.
What to expect
You can usually go home soon after. Some aching and swelling for a few days is common. A semen analysis is repeated after about three months, as new sperm take that long to develop.
How Dr Jasdev works with you
He looks at male and female fertility together and explains results without jargon or judgement. Advice follows current evidence and your priorities as a couple. You will always know why a test or treatment is being suggested. Men and couples see him from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, and some travel from neighbouring countries.
What to bring to your appointment
Bringing earlier results helps Dr Jasdev avoid repeating tests and focus on your next step. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.
- All semen analysis reports
- Hormone and genetic test results
- Details of any previous testicular surgery
What men often ask
Men often feel unsure what to ask about sperm health. These common questions are a good place to start.
Can PRP help me produce sperm?
What does the research show?
Is it painful?
Should I try sperm retrieval instead?
Your questions about testicular PRP
What is testicular PRP?
It is an experimental treatment in which platelet rich plasma from your own blood is injected into the testes to try to support sperm production.
Who might consider it?
Men with very low sperm production who have completed a full assessment and discussed proven options first.
What tests are needed first?
A semen analysis, hormone and genetic tests, and a scrotal ultrasound.
Is it painful or risky?
It is done under local anaesthetic. Aching, bruising or swelling afterwards is common, and infection is uncommon. Any benefit is not proven.
