Individualised IVF Stimulation Protocols

Your medicine and dose are chosen around your age, egg reserve and past response, aiming for a safe number of good eggs rather than as many as possible.

Medicine plans shaped around how your ovaries respond

A stimulation protocol is the plan of hormone injections that helps several eggs grow in an IVF cycle. Protocols differ in the medicines used, the doses and how early ovulation is prevented. No single plan suits everyone.

If a past cycle felt too strong or too weak, it helps to know the plan can be changed.

Dr Jasdev chooses and adjusts your protocol using your results and how your body responds during the cycle.

01

A plan that starts with your results

Your age, history, test results and goals are reviewed before any treatment is suggested.

02

Clear reasons for each step

You will know why a test or medicine is recommended, what it can do and where its limits are.

03

Care that stays connected

Reviews are planned around how you respond, your cycle timing and your next decision.

What a tailored protocol gives you

  • Doses matched to your AMH, age and weight
  • A lower risk of overstimulation
  • Prompt changes when scans show a need

How your care is planned

Every stage answers three questions: what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next. The plan is reviewed at each stage and adjusted when needed.

01

Review egg reserve tests and any past cycle records

02

Choose the medicines, doses and protocol type

03

Monitor with scans and blood tests, adjusting as needed

How protocols differ

The two most common approaches are the antagonist protocol, which is shorter, and the long protocol. Mild stimulation uses lower doses for some women. The trigger injection that matures the eggs can also be chosen to lower the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation, an overreaction to the drugs.

Who may benefit

Every IVF patient needs a protocol. Tailoring matters most for women with very low or very high egg reserve, or with PCOS. It also matters after a poor or excessive response in a past cycle, or when health conditions affect which medicines are safe.

What to expect

You will receive a written calendar showing each medicine and dose. During stimulation, you will have scans every two to three days. If your response is slower or faster than expected, doses may change.

How Dr Jasdev works with you

He brings together experience in fertility and gynaecology, and he explains things in plain language. Advice is based on current evidence and on what matters to you. You will always know what the next step is and why it has been suggested. He sees couples from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, as well as some who travel from neighbouring countries.

What to bring to your appointment

Your records help Dr Jasdev understand your history quickly, so more of the visit can go to your questions. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.

  • Your AMH and other hormone results
  • Stimulation records from any previous cycles
  • A list of your current medicines and health conditions
Patient questions

What couples often ask about protocols

Most couples arrive with several questions. These common ones can help you plan what to ask.

01

Why did my last protocol not work well for me?

02

Will a higher dose give more eggs?

03

What is my risk of overstimulation?

04

Could a milder approach work in my case?

Your questions about stimulation protocols

What is an IVF stimulation protocol?

It is the plan of hormone injections that helps several eggs grow for collection. It sets which medicines you take, how much and for how long.

Who needs an individual protocol?

Everyone having IVF benefits from a plan based on their own results. It matters most with low or high egg reserve, PCOS or a difficult past cycle.

What tests are needed first?

An AMH blood test, a follicle count scan and sometimes other hormone tests. Records from past cycles are very helpful.

Are the injections painful or risky?

Most people manage the small injections at home after being shown how. Side effects include bloating and mood changes. Overstimulation is the main risk and is watched for closely.

Why see Dr Jasdev for your protocol?

He builds each plan around your results and past response, and explains why each medicine is chosen.

How do I book?

Call or WhatsApp the clinic. Bring your previous cycle records so the plan can be adjusted from the start.

This page is general information and does not replace a consultation. Whether a treatment suits you, and its risks and timing, should be discussed with Dr Jasdev based on your own history.
