AI-Assisted Embryo Selection
Computer software analyses embryo images to help the embryologist rank embryos. It supports their judgement rather than replacing it, and evidence is still growing.

Using computer analysis to support embryo selection
Artificial intelligence, or AI, tools study images of embryos and compare them with large sets of past data. They give each embryo a score that may help predict its potential. The embryologist uses this alongside standard grading.
It is natural to hope new technology will make a difference. Studies so far suggest it can make grading more consistent, but it has not clearly been shown to increase births.
Dr Jasdev explains what AI can add in your case, and what it cannot.
A plan that starts with your results
Your age, history, test results and goals are reviewed before any treatment is suggested.
Clear reasons for each step
You will know why a test or medicine is recommended, what it can do and where its limits are.
Care that stays connected
Reviews are planned around how you respond, your cycle timing and your next decision.
What AI assisted selection can give you
- An extra, consistent view of embryo quality
- Support when several embryos look similar
- Information shared openly with you
How your care is planned
Every stage answers three questions: what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next. The plan is reviewed at each stage and adjusted when needed.
Discuss whether AI tools are available and suitable

Combine AI scores with standard grading to choose
How AI selection works
Images of your embryos, often from a time lapse incubator, are analysed by software. The program looks at patterns in growth and shape and produces a ranking. The embryologist reviews this with their own assessment before an embryo is chosen. The final choice of embryo is always made by the embryologist, with your preferences in mind.
Who may consider it
Couples with several embryos of similar quality, where choosing between them is difficult. It may also interest couples who want every available piece of information.
What to expect
Your cycle runs as usual. The embryologist uses the AI score as one factor in selection. Any extra cost, and the limits of the evidence, are explained before you agree.
How Dr Jasdev works with you
He brings together experience in fertility and gynaecology, and he explains things in plain language. Advice is based on current evidence and on what matters to you. You will always know what the next step is and why it has been suggested. He sees couples from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, as well as some who travel from neighbouring countries.
What to bring to your appointment
Your records help Dr Jasdev understand your history quickly, so more of the visit can go to your questions. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.
- Previous embryology reports
- Questions about costs and how scores are used
- Your preferences for embryo selection
What couples often ask
Most couples arrive with several questions. These common ones can help you plan what to ask.
Does AI selection improve pregnancy chances?
Who makes the final decision?
Is it worth the added cost?
How is our data used?
Your questions about AI assisted embryo selection
What is AI assisted embryo selection?
It uses computer software to analyse embryo images and give a score that helps the embryologist choose which embryo to transfer.
Who is it suitable for?
Couples with several embryos where choosing is difficult. It is optional and not needed in every cycle.
Does it need extra tests?
No. It uses images taken during normal embryo culture.
Is it risky?
There are no known physical risks to the embryos. The main question is whether the benefit is worth the cost, as the evidence is still developing.
Why see Dr Jasdev about this?
He gives a clear, honest view of new technologies, so you can decide what is worth adding.
