Egg Freezing

Freezing eggs at a younger age can give you more options later. Eggs are collected after hormone injections and stored until you are ready.

Keeping more options open for your future family

Egg freezing, also called oocyte cryopreservation, stores unfertilised eggs for later use. The eggs are frozen very quickly using a method called vitrification, which helps protect them when they are thawed.

Choosing to freeze your eggs is a personal decision. Clear facts about age, egg numbers and chances help you decide.

Dr Jasdev explains realistic expectations based on your age and egg reserve, without pressure.

01

A plan that starts with your results

Your age, history, test results and goals are reviewed before any treatment is suggested.

02

Clear reasons for each step

You will know why a test or medicine is recommended, what it can do and where its limits are.

03

Care that stays connected

Reviews are planned around how you respond, your cycle timing and your next decision.

What egg freezing gives you

  • More choice about when to start a family
  • A clear estimate of how many eggs may be collected
  • Eggs stored at their current age and quality

How your care is planned

Every stage answers three questions: what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next. The plan is reviewed at each stage and adjusted when needed.

01

Check egg reserve and general health

02

Take hormone injections for around ten to twelve days

03

Collect and freeze the mature eggs

How egg freezing works

You take daily hormone injections to help several eggs grow, with scans every few days. When the follicles are ready, the eggs are collected under sedation with a fine needle guided by ultrasound. Mature eggs are then frozen and stored. When you are ready to use them, they are thawed and fertilised by ICSI.

Who may benefit

Women who want to delay pregnancy for personal or career reasons, especially before their mid thirties. It also helps women facing medical treatment that may affect fertility, or with a family history of early menopause.

What to expect

After a first visit and tests, stimulation usually starts with your next period. Egg collection takes around twenty minutes, and most women go home the same day. Mild bloating and cramps for a few days are common.

Your questions about egg freezing

What is egg freezing?

It is a way of collecting and storing your eggs so they can be used later. The eggs keep the quality they had when they were frozen.

Who is it suitable for?

Women who want to delay pregnancy, those facing treatment that may harm fertility, and women with low or falling egg reserve. Freezing at a younger age usually gives more options.

What tests are needed first?

An AMH blood test, a follicle count scan, infection screening and a general health check.

Is egg freezing painful or risky?

Most women describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. Egg collection is done under sedation. The main risk is overstimulation, which is monitored closely.
