Male Fertility Assessment
A semen test, hormone checks and a short examination show how sperm health may be affecting your chances of conceiving as a couple.
Fertility Assessment
Checking sperm health as part of your fertility plan
Male factors are involved for many couples who struggle to conceive. The assessment looks at sperm count, movement and shape, along with hormones and general health. It is simple, private and usually quick to arrange.
Some men feel awkward about testing. The process is handled discreetly, and results are explained without judgement.
Dr Jasdev considers your findings together with your partner’s results, so decisions make sense for you both.
Both partners are assessed
Male factors play a part in many couples’ fertility problems, so sperm health is checked early.
Results explained clearly
You will understand what each result means and which options follow from it.
A plan for you as a couple
Male and female findings are considered together, so decisions make sense for both of you.
What this assessment gives you
- A clear explanation of your semen analysis
- Checks for health or lifestyle factors that can be improved
- Advice on whether IUI, IVF or ICSI may be needed
How your care is planned
Each stage answers what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next for you as a couple. The plan is reviewed as results come in.
Talk through your health, medicines and lifestyle
Arrange a semen analysis and hormone tests where needed
Discuss the results and agree next steps as a couple
What the assessment covers
The main test is a semen analysis, which measures sperm count, how well sperm swim and their shape. Depending on the results, hormone blood tests, a scrotal ultrasound or genetic tests may follow. A short examination can pick up issues such as a varicocele (enlarged veins in the scrotum).
Who may benefit
Men whose partner has not conceived after a year of trying, or six months if she is over 35. It is worth testing earlier if you have had testicular surgery, infections or cancer treatment, or problems with erection or ejaculation.
What to expect
Your first visit is a private conversation about your health. Before the semen test, you will be asked to avoid ejaculation for two to five days. Results are usually ready within a few days and are explained at your review visit.
How Dr Jasdev works with you
He looks at male and female fertility together and explains results without jargon or judgement. Advice follows current evidence and your priorities as a couple. You will always know why a test or treatment is being suggested. Men and couples see him from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, and some travel from neighbouring countries.
What to bring to your appointment
Bringing earlier results helps Dr Jasdev avoid repeating tests and focus on your next step. If you cannot find everything, bring what you have.
- Any previous semen analysis reports
- A list of medicines, supplements and any steroid use
- Details of past surgery, infections or illness
What men often want to know
Men often feel unsure what to ask about sperm health. These common questions are a good place to start.
What do my semen results actually mean?
Can lifestyle changes improve my sperm?
Do we need IVF or ICSI because of these results?
Should the test be repeated?
Your questions about male fertility testing
What is a male fertility assessment?
It is a check of sperm health, hormones and general health. It helps explain whether male factors are affecting your chances and what can be done.
Who should have one?
Any man whose partner is having difficulty conceiving, ideally at the same time as her tests. Earlier testing makes sense after testicular problems, surgery or cancer treatment.
What tests are needed?
A semen analysis is the first step. Hormone blood tests, an ultrasound or genetic tests are added only if the results suggest they will help.
Is it uncomfortable or risky?
The semen sample is collected privately. Blood tests and an ultrasound are simple and carry very little risk. Any examination is explained first and done with your consent.
Why see Dr Jasdev for this?
He treats male fertility as seriously as female fertility and explains results clearly. Your results are considered alongside your partner’s to plan the right next step.
How do I book?
Call or WhatsApp the clinic. You will be told how to prepare for the semen test and where to give the sample.
This page is general information and does not replace a consultation. Whether a test or treatment suits you, and its risks and timing, should be discussed with Dr Jasdev based on your own history.
