Hysteroscopic Fibroid Removal

Fibroids that bulge into the womb cavity can be shaved away through the cervix, easing heavy bleeding and removing a possible barrier to pregnancy.

Removing fibroids from inside the womb without cuts

Some fibroids grow into the womb cavity. These are called submucosal fibroids. They often cause heavy bleeding and can affect implantation. Hysteroscopic myomectomy removes them using a telescope and fine instruments passed through the cervix.

Because there is no cut on the tummy, most women recover within a few days.

Dr Jasdev plans the procedure from detailed scans, so the approach suits the size and depth of each fibroid.

01

Careful assessment before surgery

Scans, symptoms and past operations are reviewed, so surgery is only suggested when it is likely to help.

02

Fertility kept in mind

If you hope to conceive in future, surgery is planned to protect your womb, tubes and ovaries as far as possible.

03

Clear recovery guidance

You will know what recovery involves, when to return to normal activities and when your review is due.

What this procedure gives you

  • Treatment of heavy bleeding caused by the fibroid
  • A clearer womb cavity for future pregnancy
  • A quick recovery with no tummy wound

How your care is planned

Each stage is explained so you know why surgery is being considered, what it involves and how recovery will go. You can take time to decide.

01

Map the fibroid with an ultrasound or saline scan

02

Remove it by hysteroscopy under anaesthetic

03

Check healing and plan fertility steps

How it works

Under anaesthetic, a telescope is passed into the womb. The fibroid is shaved away in small pieces with a special instrument. Larger or deeper fibroids may need two procedures. The removed tissue is sent for testing.

Who may benefit

Women with heavy periods caused by a fibroid inside the womb, and women trying to conceive or having IVF when a fibroid changes the shape of the cavity.

What to expect

Most women go home the same day. Cramps and bleeding for up to a week are common. You will be told when it is safe to try to conceive or start treatment, often after one or two cycles.

How Dr Jasdev works with you

He combines surgical and fertility experience, and he explains each option plainly, including when surgery may not be needed. Plans follow current evidence and your hopes for the future. You will have time to ask questions before anything is decided. Women see him from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia, and some travel from neighbouring countries.

Your questions about hysteroscopic fibroid removal

What is hysteroscopic fibroid removal?

It is the removal of fibroids inside the womb cavity using a telescope passed through the cervix, without cuts on the tummy.

Who is it suitable for?

Women with fibroids that bulge into the womb cavity and cause bleeding or affect fertility. Fibroids mainly in the wall or outside the womb need other approaches.

What tests are needed first?

A detailed ultrasound or saline scan to map the fibroid, a blood test for anaemia and a pregnancy test on the day.

Is it painful or risky?

It is done under anaesthetic, and cramps afterwards are usual. Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid absorption and, rarely, injury to the womb. These are explained beforehand.

Why see Dr Jasdev for this procedure?

He plans fibroid removal with care for the womb lining and your future fertility.
