Perineorrhaphy / Perineal Repair
The area between the vagina and anus can be weakened or stretched by childbirth. Repair aims to restore support, comfort and confidence.
Pelvic Floor & Vaginal Surgery
Rebuilding support at the entrance to the vagina
The perineum is the area of skin and muscle between the vagina and the anus. After childbirth, it may be stretched, scarred or weakened. Perineorrhaphy repairs and rebuilds these tissues to improve support and appearance.
Changes after childbirth can affect comfort, sex and confidence. These concerns are valid and worth discussing.
Dr Jasdev listens to your concerns and explains what repair can and cannot achieve.
Symptoms understood first
Leaking, bulging or discomfort is assessed carefully, including how much it affects your daily life.
Simpler options considered too
Pelvic floor exercises, physiotherapy and other treatments without surgery are discussed alongside operations.
Recovery planned in advance
You will know what to expect after the procedure and when your review is due.
What perineal repair may offer
- Better support at the vaginal entrance
- Relief from discomfort or a gaping feeling
- Repair that can be combined with prolapse surgery
How your care is planned
Each stage is explained so you understand the cause of your symptoms, your options and what recovery involves. You can take time to decide.

How the surgery works
Under anaesthetic, the scarred or stretched tissue is removed, and the muscles beneath are brought together with dissolvable stitches. The skin is then closed. It is often combined with a back wall repair if a rectocele is present. The operation usually takes under an hour. The aim is comfort and function, not only appearance.
Who may benefit
Women with a weakened or scarred perineum after childbirth that causes discomfort, a gaping feeling or problems with sex, and women having other prolapse surgery. It can wait until you have finished having children, as a later birth may affect the repair.
What to expect
Many women go home the same day or the next. The area will be sore for a couple of weeks. Keeping stools soft and the area clean helps healing. Sex should wait until you are told it is safe.
How Dr Jasdev works with you
He brings gynaecological surgical experience and a calm, private approach to symptoms that many women find hard to talk about. Plans follow current evidence and your own priorities. You will have time to ask questions before anything is decided. Women see him from Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia.
